Regional Director for SW Ohio, US Green Building Council
MaryEllen Etienne has been working in field of sustainability for nearly two decades, with an expertise in zero waste. MaryEllen enjoys connecting the dots — she has extensive experience working with businesses, municipalities and nonprofits to understand and then incorporate robust zero waste policies and strategies into their sustainability efforts.
Presently, MaryEllen is Regional Director of USGBC Ohio. Prior to this she ran Reuse International, Reuse Alliance and ReuseNYC, worked at London Community Recycling Network, NY WasteMatch, Materials for the Arts and served as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer. MaryEllen is on the board of directors of Association of Ohio Recyclers, National Recycling Coalition and SCRAP USA. She is also an organizer for Dayton Green Drinks, and is a member of the Green Business Network and Sierra Club.
MaryEllen received her Bachelors degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz, holds a ZWBA (Zero Waste Business Associate) credential, and is working on a Masters in Environmental Science from Miami University. MaryEllen hails from New York, and lives in Dayton, Ohio with her husband and son.
